hp deskjet 5550 never installs

Hi
Does anyone know why such a popular printer hasn't got the proper drivers from MS yet? Any workaround?

The reason is, is that MS has to get the drivers from HP. MS does not make the printer drivers included in the OS. As for HP providing more drivers than are already in the beta, fat chance. I've emailed about drivers for my Photosmart 7150 and they say we don't provide beta drivers, wait til Vista ships. Major suckage from HP per usual.

Thanks to Comer from this forum, I got my HP 6840 to work with basic functions, through installing the drivers for HP 990c that come with Vista. Try it.
