I have never tried this. It is very possible that the installer cannot work without creating a separate swap partition. What you might try is using 2 disks. Install normally on ...... It's a HP Deskjet 5550 connected via USB. I've heard about lpd >and cups, but don't know which one to use or what the difference is.

The 550c driver worked just fine, I suspect a problem with the HP driver and some update/conflict from Microsoft's fixes/updates that we get monthly to the Windows XP OS.

Linux ready for the desktop
If I cancel it says cancelling but never cancels. I have to disable LPT1 to cancel the print job. If I use Print directly to printer it will print. The print spooler is running. My printer is a HP Deskjet 5550 and yes it is plugged in, connected to LPT1, software installed, latest driver etc etc.

The print job appears to be processing when you hit print....but never makes it to the print queue....and of course, never prints. I did not know why it was there, in addition to my regular printer driver (HP DeskJet 5550).... Little did I know that MS Works passes it's print jobs through this.
